The government is preparing a policy paper that will legalize school going teenagers to buy birth control pills and contraceptives over the counter without necessarily having a doctors prescription. This has raised concerned among parents and religious leaders who condemn this policy paper arguing that it will lead into immorality and early teenagers involvement in sexual activities. Churches suggest that they should instead be taught about self control and abstaining until they attain the age of marriage or they are old enough to practice sex. This has brought the whole debate to a stand still with both sides asking should if its moral for teenagers to buy birth control or contraceptivesAdvantages of this policyTeenage pregnancy is very r ampant today than in the yester years, this has been attributed to early exposures brought about by exposure to technology such as the internet or through their phones. The complications brought about by early pregnancies among adolescent children or teenagers require immediate and fast method of resolving the issue of early pregnancy. According to research pregnant teenagers were most likely to have complications compared to full grown adults. Some of the complications that can arise with early pregnancies include, miscarriages, still birth, maternal illness and neo natal deaths, (Luker, 1996). Some of these effects can have life long traumatizing situations for these young stars that many of them may not recover even through therapy sessions.School going children and teenagers who become pregnant might be forced to drop out of college or school. They may never be able to come back to school or collage and majority of them tend to drop out of school. Nowadays without a college dipl oma or a university degree it will be so hard for one to get employment as this is the minimum requirement for one to secure a job. The only alternative that will be left for these youngsters is to convict them to a life of poverty which could be avoided with the use of contraceptives or birth control pills, (Hoffman, 2006)Teenage mothers often bear children who are under weight, experience several problems during child bearing period and their children are normally abused or neglected by the parent who on most occasions doesnt know the true biological father and tends to take out the anger at the innocent kid. Teenage mothers are normally a rebuke in the society or are seen as being cheap and with loose morality. This type of rebuke causes frequent traumatization which in turn reflects to the new born who has to bear the burden of negligence, (Hoffman Maynard, 20008; martin et al.,2011; NCTUP, 2010.). The thought of having children and yet she is not able to take care of her slowl y begins to Crip in when the child is born. With prober care and education avoidance of such scenario will cease to exist. The use of pills and contraceptives can also help in reducing such cases as some of the cases can be due to rape or any other unavoidable circumstances like sexual abuse by a relative or a person who is well known to the victim.Peer pressure also contributes to majority of pregnancies; teenagers will tend to experience with their bodies due to influence from their age groups friends. Everyones background differs from another persons people will tend to inherit some behaviors from either their parents or close people. Some behaviors can be bad others can be good. The influence that one will bring during adolescent will have a direct impact on other peer members. Some people experience sexual advance at an early age and tend to get hyper active at a very tender age. Such people who can not sustain their sexual appetite can be consoled and explained to the dange rs of having unprotected sex. The rise of cases of sexually transmitted disease and early pregnancy can also be avoided by the use of contraceptives or preventive pills which are commonly used to prevent pregnancies.Policy makers believe in Planned Parenthood and on its importance. Thou they teach in schools but they are aware that teenagers are sexual active and they are engage in sexual activities at an early age. Some argue that teenagers from the age of 15 should be taught about sexual absenteeism but also be given a choice on weather to abstain or use preventive measure to ensure they dont get pregnant or they dont contact sexual transmitted diseases, (CDC, 2012)AGAINST TEENAGERS AND ADOLESENT USING CONTRACEPTIVES AND PILLSDoctors, medics, church, parents are of a different view to young teenage girls using contraceptives and other preventive measures. The doctors and medics argue that allowing teenagers to use contraceptives and pills without the doctors approval might be dang erous to their health. They claim that ones birth control method might not work on another and suggest that teenagers and young adolescent girls should seek medical interpretation when they plan to use any type of contraceptive. The doctors and medics further claim that ones needs to under go some medical observations before one is permitted to buy any kind of contraceptive pills as some of them might be harmful to them or cannot work well with their bodies. Doctors and medics are in a view that these youngsters need to be enlightened on the dangers and side effects of contraceptives for them to make an informed choice on the use of contraceptives, (Kisker 1985)Parents are also against the use of pills on teenagers and young adolescents. Parents argue that giving them the choice of using contraceptives will be like giving them permission to engage in early sexual acts. Parents are in the view that sexual absenteeism should instead be taught in schools and teenagers encouraged abstai ning rather than giving them the option of engaging in early sex. Parents are in the view that teachings of early sexual expressions and feeling were a necessity for a child up bringing. Parents were on the view that teenagers should be brought up with honesty and accurate information relating to sex and sexual desires as soon as they start to experience any changes in their bodies. They suggest that this could only be accomplished by teaching the youngsters about the dangers of sex and ways of abstaining from sexual behavior before marriage as opposed to the using contraceptives to achieve their sexual desires, (Reddy Swain, 2002).The church is against the use of contraceptive and pills because it goes against the biblical teachings that one should go out and multiply and it also it states that sex is only meant for married couples. The church is against the use of contraceptives of whatever means and justifies its position that the use of contraceptive will encourage immorality a nd also with be an act against God who said that the union between a man and a woman was sacred and can only be unified by a holy matrimony. The church is in a view that absenteeism and following the teachings of Christ was the only way one could be safe from early pregnancies and sexual related disease. Many religions and cultures discourage early pregnancies and mostly condemn those who get pregnant early as unjust and unholy, (Studer Thornton, 1987)ConclusionAlthough the many critics are against the introduction of contraceptives and pills to teenagers and young adolescent, the reality on the ground...
